Conexiones Culturales de Latinoamérica
Welcome to the second edition of Conexión Sónica, a virtual event where you will discover the music and cultural infrastructure of Latin America.
From November 28 to December 4, 2022, 7 videos will be premiered featuring 4 concerts by Latin American artists from Bolivia, Brazil, Chile and Paraguay, plus 3 retrospectives of a cultural center in Colombia, La Pascasia, plus two festivals from Chile and Mexico. The event is a digital tool where the members of the Conexiones Culturales de Latinoamérica network intend to strengthen alliances through cultural exchanges to promote the diverse cultures of their countries and expand audiences in the digital space.
CONEXIÓN SÓNICA is presented with the support of Ibermúsicas, and is organized by Conexiones Culturales de Latinoamérica (CCLA), a collaborative network that connects the music industry professions in Latin America.

Singer and composer from Bahia, Brazil. Her music is characterized by strength, beauty and, at the same time, the delicacy of the feminine being that comes to talk about social issues, belonging and affection. The public will be able to listen to songs such as 'Amarelocura', 'Quando A Gente Se Vê' and 'Nobre Mulher', as well as her own songs in Spanish and also interpreted - such as the popular "Duerme Negrito", compiled by Atahualpa Yupanqui.

Altiplano

Bolivian group born in La Paz and directed by the composer Edgar Bustillo O., which mixes folklore and rhythms such as rock, blues and jazz, based on the sounds of native instruments, Creole strings, brass and percussion, generating a very own and highly creative sound. For more than 40 years, it has been one of the most interesting alternative projects in Bolivia. The concert was recorded at Teatro Nuna Espacio Arte, partners of the Conexiones Culturales de Latinoamérica network, a space founded in 2013 located in the southern area of the city of La Paz, Bolivia, which allows the development of works and concerts, providing various possibilities for both creators and audiences, offering permanent and temporary training workshops in various artistic disciplines and have rehearsal rooms for theater, dance and music.

Purahéi Soul

Purahéi Soul is a Paraguayan musical group founded in 2013 by Jennifer Hicks and Miguel Narváez, two Paraguayan artists. The group is characterized by presenting folk songs and jazz and blues standards reversioned, tribute to all the music that moves and inspires them. Purahéi means song in Guaraní, and soul alludes to afro sounds and the word soul. At Conexión Sónica, they are presented by Síncopa Producciones, a Paraguayan production company dedicated to the promotion and management of jazz and related music shows.

La Boa

In the midst of a landscape that mixes jungles, mountains, beaches, cities, intricate paths and maritime routes, La BOA reappears on the Colombian music scene with its fourth studio album and once again approaches the diversity of Caribbean cultures and their multiple and inexhaustible sonorities. A kind of reverie that moves between musical genres built in neighborhoods and in large halls, evoking popular parties of the 1970s and 1980s. Invited to Conexión Sónica by Fundación Otro Sur, an independent organization that seeks to promote cultural exchange between Africa and Latin America, with the aim of stimulating dialogue between the realities of these regions.
Mundovivo Festival

Mundovivo is an independent label, booking agency and producer of cultural events, founded in 1995 in Santiago de Chile. They are the creators and producers of the renowned "Festival de Músicas del Mundo" (World Music Festival), which has 20 versions and takes place in various municipalities and regions of the country, with national and international guests. In this video, they present Samadi and Subhira acts, the former formed by Pascuala Ilabaca on vocals, rhodes and accordion, Jaime Frez on percussion and Bhavani Kali on Indian dances. The latter is one of the precursor bands of the "World Music" style in Chile, with more than 25 years of trajectory and 19 albums published, whose music mixes music of native peoples of South America, with avant-garde, electronic and progressive sonority, using elements of jazz, classical music and folklore.
La Pascasia Cultural Center

La Pascasia is an old mansion located in the center of Medellín, Colombia, where artists, attendees and locals meet. It is also an auditorium, art gallery, bookstore and restaurant, where it is also a sentry box for the corporation "Común y Corriente". For Conexión Sónica they present a film shot on June 8, 2022 at the Teatro Universidad de Medellín, with music that reflects the diversity of their work and shows a reflection of various ways of thinking and creating in the region of Antioquia: Mr. Bleat; Garúas; Son de la Nubia and León Giraldo.

Morelia Music Festival

The Morelia Music Festival Miguel Bernal Jiménez was founded in July 1989 with the objective of promoting and expanding musical education based on the project of the illustrious Michoacán composer Miguel Bernal Jiménez. Over the course of 33 years, it has managed to present the greatest exponents of concert music from all over the world.
The Festival has become an important showcase for the great Mexican musicians and has become a link between the students of the country's conservatories and the great musicians who participate in each of its editions through courses and master classes.
